Coal Miners’ Cabins is a guesthouse and hostel in Svalbard offering affordable and low prices for accommodation in Longyearbyen. You live in a comfortable hostel that displays harsh history and sober charm. Coal Miners’ Cabins is located in Nybyen, the top of the Longyear valley at the foot of glaciers and mountains.
The place is a good starting point for tours and activities on Svalbard, on foot, on skis or by snowmobile, in summer and winter.
In the traditional buildings there are 75 rooms with a total of 136 beds in single, double and triple rooms. There are also 2 apartments, each with room for four people. Each building has separate guest kitchen, TV room, laundry and shared shower and toilet.
“Stormessa” is a completely renovated combined bar and reception. Here you can relax in the bar area – or test the homemade food. You can also opt for various excursions such as snowmobile safaris, dog sledding, glacier and several hiking and boating. If you sign up for excursions, tour operators will pick you up and drop you just outside the reception, where the shuttle bus has a stopover. Great buffet breakfast, bed linen and towels are included in all prices.
