Never heard of Pilgrims? We hadn’t either – but two of the three members have played have played Dark Season Blues in the past. Vocalist and guitarist Thor Lønning (Humbug, The Blackbirds, Deadwood) and dobro player Knut Hem (Respatexans, Øystein Sunde, Reidar Larsen) have brought along Lars Fredrik Beckstrøm (deLillos, Beckstrøm Kvartett) along this time on vocals and mandolin. The trio is playing their first concert here at the festival.
Love of traditional American folk music, or roots if you like, brought them together. After Dark Season Blues in 2013, Lønning & Hem performed a follow-up concert at Buckleys in Oslo, with Beckstrøm as a guest artist. This turned out to be a great match, and finally they have found the time to make something more of it. The trio plays an eclectic cocktail of music from their differing sources of inspiration: Thor with the rawness and violence of punk, Lars Fredrik as one of the driving forces behind deLillos and Hem with his magic touch and virtuosity on the dobro.
