For more than 20 years, Danish Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado have been entertaining blues lovers around the world with their concerts and releases. This year saw the release of the album “House of Sticks”. Few people might know that Risager and Tornado pianist Emil Balsgaard have a history together that goes back much further. Now they can be experienced during Dark Season Blues.
It’s been more than 30 years since the two started working together in the New Orleans blues’n’funk band Rad Gumbo. Their third duo album, “Taking The Good With The Bad” (2021), shows that their love of pulverizing boogie blues, Caribbean rhythms, acidic delta grooves and low-down dirty funk is still intact.
