Knut Reiersrud (NO)

Dark Season Blues celebrates this year, but so does Knut Reiersrud (62). He was one of five artists who played during the very first festival in 2003.

Knut Reiersrud is a Norwegian blues guitarist. His work also incorporates elements of Norwegian traditional music and African music as well as being a fantastic improviser. Reiersrud has recorded and played with David Lindley, the Blind Boys Of Alabama, Mighty Sam McClain, Rickie Lee Jones, Nina Hagen and Swedish blues musician Sven Zetterberg.

For 44 years, Knut has played his guitars on countless stages and thrilled audiences around the world such as Nepal, Iran and South Africa. It started with Hartvig & The Heartbreakers and The Four Roosters in the 70s and 80s and gigs in clubs in Chicago and New York – where he played with the likes of Buddy Guy and Dr. John. For several decades now he has had his own Knut Reiersrud Band, but to this year’s festival he’s coming alone with his guitars.
