JW-Jones

Visitors at the festival in 2011 will remember JW Jones as a red hot young Canadian guitar slinger/singer.
“JW’s got it down! So much soul, and nice material. You can’t beat it. I am telling the truth.” – Hubert Sumlin
JW Jones has released eight albums, performed in nineteen countries and four continents, and averages over one hundred shows per year. The last album was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee and produced by Colin Linden, one of Canada’s most prominent blues artists.
American magazine Blues Revue stated that “Jones’ style is a fluid amalgam of T-Bone Walker’s big, bright chords, Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson’s slashing leads, and Clarence ‘Gatemouth’ Brown’s jazzy sting.”
Now the sympathetic Canadian is back in Longyearbyen. And who knows what will happen. The last time he played at Huset he stepped down among the audience, found a partner and danced still playing his guitar.
